From what i've read of the book, it has got to be the stupidest thing I've ever read. I thonk mein kampf has had more finess with deep rooted topics of real events. How these people talk are some of the most inhuman responses I have ever read in my life. A scene that means absolutely nothing to the story was this random kid being shot because he was suspected, by other citizens, of being a drug trafficker. Not even the goddamn NKVD or Gestapo did that. Hell, Hitler put more research into figuring out who was jewish, let alone some random kid. A government wouldn't just shoot someone. There are reasons.
For example, a Joe schmo was shot to death after resisting police arrest due to drug trafficking concerns, but Joe schmo, in another article, was a radicalist who constantly voiced out for the people on the government's wrong doings.
That's a reason why someone might be executed, not a random kid for no evidence, who has no beef with cops. Let alone the kid's last words were "no, please, I have a test tomorrow." I hate to say it, but nobody has ever said that in the history of executions. That is by far the most lizard person thing to say.
Thus, in my humble opinion, I have the thorough belief that Rigbay is an alien that stole somebody's skin. I refuse to even think about how the hell this book was conceived, but, just as pandora's box, it was opened. Also, the main character is an egomaniac cuck and I hate him so much, it was unbearable to read. It is just a "woe is I" plot line of some philipino American kid constantly saying "i'm not philipino enough" after his cousins told him that each school has to read specific propoganda books, in each grade, that he's never heard of, instead of saying "oh wtf, you guys are forced to read state appointed books? That's kinda fucked." Another issue, atop of everything, is that it'd randomly remember "oh yeah, this is supposed to be a 17-year-old's monologue" and have him internally say "effing." The first "effing" I saw was after his dad just blurted out a family death. It also went on to describe the game and how the character died in-game as he processed this, so there's that.
Anyhow,
If you like dramas that'd never happen in real life, but are in a real life setting, then this is the book for you.
If you don't prefer dramas that'd never happen and want something more real and holds issues like death, loss, and a fucking drug with finness and care, then this just isn't for you.
Overal, I don't think this book reflects how Rigbay typically writes, so I don't think you should go out of your way to not read his books; However, this book, the patron saints of nothing, is akin to Helen Keller attempting to do a slam dunk.
Anyhow, I'm happy jay gets fucking strangled - 10/10.
