One of the best reads I have had for a long time. Of special interest to me because I know Lübeck and have read Buddenbrooks although I had no idea that the Mann family history was a saga in itself.

Having seen the glowing reviews I wonder if I have read the same book! Found it a load of tosh, barely believable characters and scenario (the way the journalist was endulged by the publisher, never happens in real life - Delphine’s diary, almost lost the will to live). Sorry, another gift for the charity shop.
