While there are many other Little Women series, Little Women: Los Angeles is the one I recommend the best. I know some people think this show is exploiting little people and making them a spectacle but I don't think that's why most people watch it. I did first get interested because of the little person premise because it was different but any novelty of them being little went away quickly after watching it a while. I have never been interested in watching a bunch of plastic, rich ladies of Hollywood with their lifestyles that I am completely uninterested in, but this form of reality television really further grabs my attention. Whether some storylines could be false or not, it is still extremely intriguing to understand what drastic change your normal lifestyle could undergo if you were just a couple of feet shorter. The women of Little Women LA, I could actually relate to because they are all different people with different personalities and income levels who do fun things and try different things and business ventures, all while being short. The little person aspect of their lives does often tend to come up but I have learned more about little people and the aspect of their lives that are affected by being little than I ever even imagined. It is the way they handle their problems of being little and living a lifestyle that keeps me interested. Like having a child born with double-dominant genes or how people in other countries like Russia feel about people with dwarfism or that Billy Barty, the actor who started the LP society of America (I didn't really learn that from the show but I got interested and read up on it) or how types of dwarfism can affect other things like your hair etc. like Jasmine deals with. The show offered me a different perspective of another person’s life and a greater understanding to show empathy. I’ve realized that they are exactly like “us” average sized beings, but shorter and that there is no way that they should be looked at or seen any differently. The drastic amount of drama these girls and guys tend to have in their lives and the many adventures, sad, medical problems they tend to face, as well as the happiness, fierceness and fun the cast tends to bring, is all the more reason to watch the 8 season series, Little Women: LA.
