Yes, the director 'explores' themes of control, submission, self-loathing, etc etc etc, and boy, does he ever do it at wearisome, BORING length. Very, very few films have ever had me silently wishing 'God, let it be over'. And I finally fulfilled my wish by walking out at the bizarre, ludicrous end of the second story.
