I read the book. So I was disappointed because I felt the movie did not highlight the abuse and degradation that the Native American community suffered. The magnitude of their wealth at the time and the manipulation of the legal system to ensure the maximum amount of wealth could be extracted from them and their lives controlled. I thought that would have been a far more controversial story as it would get closer to the truth. The cinematography, everything else was amazing, and perhaps had I not been aware I would have had a different take. Still love his movies and his story telling, just felt he missed the opportunity to tell the full story by not fully articulating the position of the people being subjected to abuse. This was the only miss ever from him. Love all his other movies.
