It was not clear to me when I purchased the book that it was the first half of a novel. I stuck it through to the last page but after realizing that I would have to buy another book to finish it, I quit. It was boring, boring, boring. On the other hand, I loved The Doomsday Book, To Say Nothing of the Dog, and Passage.
