This book is a very well written study of life on an Upper Murray cattle station by Elyne Mitchell in her married years with Tom at Towong Hill.
Elyne has written numerous books on the Silver Brumby for Children and Adults.
We begin with a map of the property on the Murray River and follow with chapters of pre WWII times, the War, and the times after Tom returns from Singapore internment. There are many stories of life on the property managing the livestock musters, floods, birds, fishing, snakes, bush fires, and visits to the Snowy Mountains for skiing and travel. Elyne has written books particularly on the Snowy Mountains. Find a copy of this book and enjoy an easy rural read.
