Being an avid fan of Stephen King, my favorite book is still Salem’s Lot. After the long awaited newest version, I was somewhat disappointed. I think the actors did an amazing job by sticking to the general plot line but overall the directors missed multiple plot lines that kept everyone in suspense. The 1979 TV version was more so true to King’s book. The 2004 version had more characters and updated storyline. The 2024 version adapted the main characters to be short lived and never delved into the true essence of suspense. The bad guys were made to look classic (Bonus). I believe because of the delay in the filming and issues with typical productions ),it was not seen as high priority or a money maker type film. If you like breezing through a quick storyline and are not a fan of Mr. King, the film is right up your alley. If you are a classic fan of King, I would say watch all three versions and enjoy. I would encourage fans to also watch Chapelwaite as a prequel to how ‘ the lot’ was created.
