Honestly would've given this book a 3.5 but I enjoyed it. I'm 13 years old and finished this book in one night. (9:40pm- 1:30am.)
I think the idea was really interesting, but I found it very anticlimatic. Most of the book was about how they spent their last day, I just wish more would've happened.
I think it would've been better if the whole, "My ex-girlfriends boyfriend is crazy and trying to kill me with a gun" thing would've been better left out. I just didn't really really like Peck's character and I didn't think he had a big enough reason to go after Rufus on his death bed.
I liked the different POV's, and how everyones story overlined. I did think it was a bit much though, when it came to that celebrity guy who I just didn't care enough about.
This book is a real slowburn. They don't even make a move on eachother until the end of the book. I see plenty of tiktokers advertising this book as a bold lgbtq story, but nothing really happens until the end, even then they only kiss a bit. If you're going into this looking for fluff about two boyfriends on their death beds then be prepared to read about to guys who JUST met eachother.
The forced slang was soooo annoying. I get Rufus using slang a couple times, but he keeps repeating the same words over and over and over. He keeps saying, "yo" and, "mad" it just gets really annoying after a point to where I was actually going to put the book down. Also, this might be picky but I just really dislike whenever characters a written yelling with caps. I just prefer using italics in dramatic moments for my reads.
Not every lgbtq book is a good book. Though this book made the characters get together at the end, and also had other lgbt side characters, it felt very forced. Yes, it's your last day on Earth and you've made a new friend, but to gain feelings at the very end of the book and not talk about anything like that before? Idk, it just seems like it was more of a checklist than an actual part of the plot.
This book was fine. It's kind of just there for me. Nothing too special, it's a read that takes some time and is ultimately uneventful.
