I really enjoyed this book for the most part. I love finding a new fantasy realm to explore. The curses and powers are super interesting and I think this world has so much potential… however, the FMC is very frustrating because the author really drives home how insecure and weak she feels. Like over and over and over and over. She’d do something badass then be right back to beating herself down mentally. After awhile it’s annoying. I also wish we spent more time on all the characters and learning about their past and each realm in more detail. So much of the 400 pages is spent on FMC thoughts and that was the least interesting part of the book to me. So I feel like there could be a better balance. I liked it enough to read the 2nd especially after the ending.
I also don’t know why people complain about the age difference… ITS FANTASY. Magic beings live for hundreds of years, you can’t compare that to real life where most of us don’t even make it to 90. Calm down.
