An achievement but actually found the journey somewhat "dull" - I am sure it actually was far more exciting than visiting numerous prehistoric menhirs and tombs or getting lost in the fog on Dartmoor? Found the writing style pedestrian if you'll excuse the pun; lacks pace, colour and excitement of discovering the new or unexpected. Understand he was in his 50s when he did this.....and he meticulously planned and pre-read about his route & sights to visit along the way. Maybe that's why it reads like an old folks bus tour of GB? Hasn't inspired me to pick up his other tomes - walk from Athens to Mount Athos and his walk across Africa.
