I grew up in Los Angeles and was 16 years old in 1969. My family lived within walking distance of the LaBianca residence in the Los Feliz / Silverlake district where Manson family members butchered Leno and Rosemary LaBianca the night after the Sharon Tate murders. It was a terrifying and horrific time in L.A. history.
That said, I can’t help but say that QT’s latest film left me stunned. I was led back to the Hollywood where I grew up and lived in. The attention to detail was over-the-top ASTONISHING! I will see this movie again just for that reason. Tarantino’s tale is, indeed, a “once upon a time” fairy tale that held me in dread of the inevitable. What really occurred was a nightmare but the hopeful fantasy in this telling was both heroic and humorous. The ironies though incredible are also undeniable.
To those who embrace the “me, too” movement and those opposed to violence...get over it. It’s a thoughtful and gorgeous MOVIE!! I was entertained! If you do not get it it’s because you did not live it nor understand about what was happening at the end of that decade in Hollywood.
I will see this movie again. And I will promise to enjoy it even more.
