I have to say off the bat.......this is the most UN Burtonlike movie hes made to this point, imo. While not a bad movie by any stretch, it lacks the quirkiness and tbe striking aesthetics and mood that he so readily generates.
Still, its also vital to remember that its been 36yrs btwn the OG and #2. Given that, it holds its own but it just leaves you pondering what it could have been.
Theres some nice lol moments and some great side characters and performances (hello a gloriously over the top Willam DaFoe) and Keaton is still great but overall, its just lacking cohesion, its a very busy movie.
Im glad i caught it and it doesnt diminish the brilliance of the first one, which is great. Id be heartbroken if it did.
