Grandma, Grandpa Lorelei and Rory are so horrible. The grandparents are controlling of their daughter. That's why she left after having Rory at 16 or 17. I wish the writers had made Lorelei at least 21. She could have been more mature and been a real mother to Rory. In the first season, I liked Rory. However, she cheats on Dean with Jesse. She then gets back with Dean just to dump him again. Dean is such a kind guy, and she's so cold
, she can't let people in. I blame Lorelei for rhis. Then when he marries at 19, she starts an affair with him (they were both wrong to do this). Over the years, Rory becomes so entitled and self-centered. I really don't think she has the ability to love anyone. None of the Gilmore Girls do.
I also think the actor playing Rory is shy in real life because I see it showing through, especially when she's made editor of the Yale newspaper. I don't believe her character's authority. Also, Rory peaked in High School. Yale graduation was all about Logan wanting to marry her. Did she even graduate with honors?
I saw the follow up series on Netflix 10 years after the original ended. Rory is now 32 and in this show, she has been floating aimlessly the entire time. One great article. She's Logan's side piece, she didn't even research the influencer job beforehand. She thought it was a ridiculous job. When her high school's headmaster suggests that she might be a teacher, she reacts angrily. I would have bought this idea if only five years had passed, but not at ten years.
I think maybe Rory and her mother hugged once through the whole series. Lorelei seemed more like a sister than a mother. I wish Amy Sherman Palladino had written this show differently. The only people I actually liked were Lane, Jackson, Sooki and Lane's husband. But I was annoyed the show didn't give her the chance to be in a successful rock band. They got her pregnant with twins! What a letdown.
As you can see, I just can't stand this show.
