There may have been a glimmer of an interesting idea in attempting to reflect the selfish indulgences of current behaviours, but this movie didn't come close to being subtle enough to effectively make the point. I'm a fan of Meryl Streep's work, but she sometimes overdoes it as was the case here and she wasn't alone here. Aside from Kate Blanchett's character, this whole movie was a waste of time and energy ... IMHO
