One of the most boring, turgid movies ever. I haven't read the book, but Pakula's script is tedious and ridiculous. The performances by two of the biggest stars of their era are wooden.

Introspective, moody, ambiguous. Not great, but decent performances that leave you stuff to think about for a few minutes.

Totally undistinguished. Val Kilmer's performance as Doc Holliday is the only reason to watch.

Engaging, entertaining and cute. Hard to go wrong with a cast led by Grant and Tomei, ably assisted by Simmons and Janney.

Challenging material not for the prudish, but that's part of its skewering of the hypocrisy surrounding sex. Often funny. Excellent performances, particularly from Emma Stone and Mark Buffalo.

This deep dive into a relationship, the inexplicable death of a spouse and resulting trial of the wife holds one's attention through more than two and a half hours. The director focuses on the trial and the determination of the accused's guilt or innocence. The strength of the film, however, is it's explication of the lives of the protagonists rather than the legal proceeding.

The major actors acquit themselves well, but are marred by having been not very likeable people, as portrayed. The focus is superficial, the storytelling hectic and jumpy with few actual conversations among many social scenes. A major cultural figure is reduced to his bisexuality and he and this movie thereby come off as inauthentic.
