Shot in Lousiana and it shows. Great flick but the sets were not so believable. An obviously abandoned gas station that they put an active restaurant in the back with four full time employees but no customers ever show up. A mall that obviously is abandoned and they treat it like it's open for business. Another gas station that looks suspiciously like it's abandoned with a roof falling down yet they go inside and buy items and gas. Don't know if they were trying to show the economic conditons in Louisiana or just saving on money. Other than that, great acting, good story, believable, I guess.

Graphic scenes. The star, Carice Van Houten is compelling to watch. Good war film, believable even though fiction. Repeat, graphic scenes involving nudity, excrement, and more. Worth your time, more than once.

Much better than Sons of Anarchy. In sons, all they seemed to do was take a 5 second ride somewhere, and then they were looking over the inside of a warehouse or something. In the next scene, someone dies in that warehouse. Very few bike riding shots. When they did them, like I said, 5 second clips. Mayans has lots of outdoor scenes, lots of bike riding scenes, and the plotline and characters are much better developed.

I thought the movie was excellent. I do have some complaints though about the role played by Cage. The character Cage plays is uncommunicative at times when he should be shouting to the rooftops. One ridiculous thing, both Cage, as a teacher at MIT, and his buddy, ditto, when looking at the numbers can not figure out what all the numbers in between the predictions of dates and how many die in each catastrophe mean. Did these 'scientists' never hear of the five Ws? Who? What? When? Where? Why? The numbers and the answers are all in those Ws, but they never check for Where. All through the movie Cage fails to communicate with his son, his sister, the daughter of the woman who wrote all the predictions of catastrophe, and at the end even fails to communicate to his Father, mother and sister as to what happened to his son. Hated that. What is wrong with this guy? Why so withdrawn? But the acting and visual effects, especially the effects, are outstanding.

When it pops up on one of my movie channels, there is a good chance that I will watch it...again. And again. And again.

Loved this movie. It starts out a bit strange, and for a little while, since much of the opening sequences are shot in the dark, you are in the dark wondering what is going on. Then things become clear, and you begin to realize this is not the usual Liam Neeson action movie. This one has humor, quite a bit of it, and all the way through. The audience, when I was there, was even laughing as the movie ended. Go see it. You won't be disappointed.

Great movie. Eastwood has won Best Picture and Best Director awards but the Best Actor award always eludes him. It is time he got that one too and this movie could be the vehicle. There is a tendency for Hollywood to award the long time actor/actress who is fading with age a Best Actor award based on longevity as well as the movie itself, and this time maybe Clint will get it. One problem though, Eastwood is conservative and we all know how that goes down in Hollywood.
