I just binge watched the first season of Crime Scene, a Netflix Series, and I don't understand the negative comments at all. There just seems to be a desire for instant gratification as opposed to understanding all the aspects that played a role in the investigation. The first season covered the vanishing at the Cecil Hotel, which covered the bizarre case of Elisa Lam, who vanished while staying at the hotel. The investigation took us through Elisa's life, her struggles with mental illness, and her untimely death. It was a compelling look at the downfall of a once proud hotel, the problem of homelessness, and the difficulty law enforcement faces when investigating deaths in a transient population. It also spotlights the effect that "internet slueths" have on possible suspects and and the lasting impact their trolling has on their lives. In the end the solution is sad and highlights the tragedies that can result from untreated mental illness. I can only hope that future productions in this series are as well done.
