Tough movie though well worth watching. At the time of the making of this film, this was a pretty delicate subject, one that would rather not be talked about. Autism wasn’t even a word yet. A painful realization of the parents that their child is different and then to decide to place them in a place where they can still have a life, albeit unlike the life of a sibling who may not be affected. To tell both sides of the story of one of these children was well done. The acting of Judy and Burt and the boy Ruebin was stellar. The other children who are mentally disabled did a great job in the movie. It must have been a challenging scenario for everyone involved. I applaud everyone involved in making a movie about a very real aspect of many lives , especially at a time when the subject was so sensitive. It is still relevant today. Though tough, in the end it made me feel good. Good for the kids having a place and good for all the people who work with them. Recommend.

I think it’s Sam’s best work. The casting was great, a mixed bag of up and coming, old timers, and many more. Kris and James were equally impressive. Bob Dylan was a nice addition and his score for the movie was excellent. I love the set choices and attire. Sweaty, crusty, and grimy. You can almost smell them. I have seen some of the original and current reviews that pan this movie but I strongly disagree. The westerns where the clothes are clean and tailored and the story has to be politically correct is sooo boring. The artistry of this film is wonderful. Like music, my movie tastes are as broad as the horizon. This film is a true classic, unlike any other. I adore Clint, John and many other actors and their films. But this is a one off. Highly recommend, just not for young kids. Love it every time I watch it! I gave it 4 stars but it doesn’t show that.

This is one I have watched countless times and loved it every time. Great story line, the cast couldn’t have been improved on, and the writing was excellent. It seemed like the writers nailed each character to a tee. There were so many great lines and hilarious moments, it never gets old. The WW2 backstory where some of the girls may get the message their husbands won’t be returning definitely tightens your gut if not bring a tear. A must for anyone who hasn’t watched it yet, or those who haven’t watched it for awhile.

I have watched it several times and will probably watch again. Knowing it’s based on a true story makes it even more intense. Though no one really knows what transpired onboard, the creators came up with a version that was intense, exciting, and sad. Have family and friends that were in the fishing industry that totally loved it. Very entertaining. In the end, to know these men did really parish at sea really pulls at your emotions. I recommend it.

Excellent movie! I have actually lost count on how many times I’ve watched it. The story and acting were great. I watched it the first few times for that. Then add the unbelievable filming while they were flying! Unreal! Actors actually in the jets being filmed. Incredible! No matter how many times I watch it, I still catch myself, holding my breath, tightening my muscles while watching them fly. I am a major movie fan and I don’t think anything has ever been made this way. Today, everything is computer generated, mostly boring. This is so far from that. Actors that had to train for an extended period in the jets just preparing to film. You can see the g force pulling in their face and eyes. The camera shots are incredible , at every angle. Best movie for Cruise. Many other actors are going to have a great future after this. Future bright stars. Val brings a tear. The movie still brings tears of joy even though I know exactly what is going to happen. This is one I will always enjoy watching, over and over. And huge applause to the Navy personnel who do this for a living. Makes you wish you were one of them. Have I gushed enough? Obviously, highly recommend several views!

I loved this movie. Up at the top of the list of great movies Burt stars in. I applaud the courage it took to step out in his older years and make this. Many older stars do their level best not to be seen as vulnerable. As old. I’m sure Burt did his share of that too. This movie touched my heart. I think it’s one of his best roles. He played it perfectly.Ariel Winter was priceless in her role. What a piece of work she played. The movie was a welcome and pleasant surprise. And the last look at the camera and the beautiful smile. Highly recommend.

Just loved this movie, for a variety of reasons. The fact that the film makers took some creative liberties doesn’t change my view. The story of these black women, at that time, in that field, don’t get me started! Movies are made for a variety reasons, pure fact , pure fiction, or a little fantasy. This movie told the story about these women who plowed through a ridiculous amount of obstacles by sheer skill, will, and tenacity. They are real life heroes who I hope inspire those young minds out there to truly shoot for the stars. This movie is worth watching, more than once. Highly recommend

5 stars is up there with the best movies I have ever watched. But I did very much enjoy this film. It is heartfelt, with some dry humor scattered around, and real. I think it might be Paul’s best, love that guy, a true character. The other 2 main characters also did a wonderful job with their parts. The story seems made for them, and that’s acting! Some may not find it entertaining, but then some find a car that can jump over the Grand Canyon with lasers firing out of the headlights the only kind of mind numbing thing to watch. To each his own.
