I was really excited to watch this film bc the costume design and sets looked really gorgeous but in the plot of this movie it sets up the main character, Bella, to be a woman with a baby’s brain. She can’t walk or talk or even understand things properly and then they start having extreme sex scenes with her. It is made pretty clear in the movie that she does not understand the concept of a relationship either. Much like a child I don’t think she was able to consent to these things. I walked out of the theater for the first time ever because I was so grossed out and shaken by it. The scenes of Bella exploring her body were also obviously written by a man, so unrealistic to what it is actually like for a girl, not to mention the already gross implications of basically watching an adolescent explore themselves in detail. I felt like I was watching a fetish movie by some creepy old dude. This movie has haunted me, I wish I’d never bought the ticket. Can’t believe it was shown in a theater.
