Such a great film. Emotional, engaging and funny too. Really, really does take you on a journey. High recommend.

If Raynor Winn has a personality, it doesn't come across in her writing. It took me over a year to finish the book as it really is a dull descriptive tale of 2 people walking a coastal path. The film starts of very faithfully to the book. Weirdly, they have inserted an implausible meeting with a girl who follows them a short way which is not in the book (presumably to keep city filming out of the screen story) After that, it's as if they couldn't be bothered finishing the rest of the story, wrapped up and put a few lines of text on screen to say how it ended. Acting is really good but this is lacking in story. If you loved the book, you might like this but if the book dragged for you, give this a miss.

This is a black comedy film (not comedy as the review i read before reading stated) Split into 3 parts - Carl and YaYa The Yacht The Island. It was absolutely fantastic and well worth sticking with - for me I wasn't wholly engaged until AFTER the vomit scene and the only real laugh out loud was Abigail whistling for Carl in the lifeboat in part 3 - other moments were just mildly amusing. But the clever way that power changed hands - wow - brilliant and this is a movie that will stay with me a long time.

Actually loved this film. Had seen stage version and hadn't really grasped the plot - it is much easier to follow along in the film. Great sets, actors and songs. Thoroughly entertaining, i didn't lose interest at all. And i do have that kind of mind that tends to wander off into daydream mode if my attention isn't held.
