I can’t describe how awful this movie is in film and to the autistic community. Some of the methods they use to try and “help” with any symptoms/stims that occurred in the main character from having autism are not even supposed to be used and have been known to have killed autistic people in the past. It honestly scares me that some people might think that this is a good representation and that these episodes should be handled in this way. I fear that if someday someone I care about is having an episode they will be treated like this. The depiction of autistic people is disgusting. After seeing this movie and interviews from Sia. I can’t even bare to listen to her music anymore and I used to really like it. It’s like she doesn’t even see autistic people as people.
