Brawl in Cell Block 99 This movie is a refreshing take on the classic action movie genre. Rather than plunge the viewer into fast-paced action sequences full of violent mayhem, Brawl allows itself to build the storyline. The who, the where, the why of the story. At no point is the viewer left asking questions. The pacing of the movie never faulters, building up to a crescendo of violent action sequences that lives up to its namesake.

It was a good film, but if the battle was historically accurate, even just the formations, it could have been a great film. 7/10

Probably the worst show on Netflix with a historical background. It's a shame that it's historical setting offers so much yet we see so little of it in the show. Little in the way of dialogue, little in the way of acting and little in the way of plot. The only thing this show has going for it is the costuming with the fancy fur coats and all. Very diapointing. 2/5

Mandy This movie is a visual and audio masterpiece. Every sound, every word, every action. The visuals are stunning, borrowing from 1980's fantasy fiction, the viewer is overwhelmed with intrinsic colour in order to accuntuate the mood of the scene. The audio is mesmerizing, serving to compliment the colours of each scene, again inspired by 1980's electro synth and hard rock music. The storyline is simple yet complex, in that it touches on the "good vs evil" trope without becoming too cliche or common. The action is violent and bloody, yet necessary and is never over-glorified. An instant "cult classic" most definitely to be consumed by connoisseurs of obscure cinema. Not for the faint of heart. 11/10 would consume again.
