A truly awful and boring depiction of Napoleon's life and an extremely grim performance by Joaquin Phoenix with clearly inadequate or misguided direction from Scott. Striding around moodily, uttering the occasional Napoleonic profundity, with an American accent, doesn't cut it for me.
Shame, I had really been looking forward to this film.
