If you are a Man of Steel fan you will be SORELY disappointed. Feels like a Super-Hero parody film. Definitely does not have the “gravitas” a standalone Superman movie should have! This is more akin to “Kick-ass”. If this is the direction DCU is heading we are doomed. Everything about it is wrong. From a dumbed down comic-centric parody script where the jokes aren’t funny. No emotional depth. A miscast Luther. A misfit bunch of unconvincing characters, superheroes and villains. Poor fight scenes and worse CGI than previous Superman movies. Trying to be “inclusive” and politically correct by including #MeToo themes seems forced, and the only redeeming character — a dog, is captured and put through some deranged torture experiment. I was neutral about James Gunn until I watched this movie, and now I realise the fears are not just about people who are Snyder fans, that there concerns about James Gunn are truly valid. I have to say this was one of the worst superhero movies I’ve ever watched and I walked out the cinema with 45 minutes left.
