5 Stars for exposing the corruption of the landowners exploiting the impoverished Italian peasants who lived in the countryside. Some parts were hard to see but the oppressive wealthy of that era were brutal. These injustices are what cause Fascism to rise in Italy in the 1930s to oppose them. After the war. The story started out well as an intriguing tale about the sudden disappearance of a husband and the secrets that unfold when his wife and daughter try to understand what is going on. Jennifer Garner seems miscast. Too much ‘mugging’ throughout. Second to the last episode the story begins to unravel with Garners character going maverick in spite of homicidal mobsters breathing down her neck. The unrelenting tension of the series never pays off as we approach the final two episodes. It is like a firecracker that fails to yield the expected ‘pop’ at the end of the fuse. You will have to see the series to find out more about the details and how it ends. I expected more from the cast. However, the writers must assume the blame for the final fizzle.
