I'm sorry but they miscast the Role of Sheldon. One of the reasons Jim Parson was so good is because his voice was a bit unique. With Young Sheldon I can't get past that Sheldon's voice is deeper as a child then it is as a 30 year old. Also as an adult Sheldon is long and lanky. As a child there is nothing that distinguishes his look from other kids. Yes you can get fatter or skinner or work out but your body type doesn't change. This is nothing to do with whoever it is playing the part now. He could be the best young actor on the planet but if you don't look or sound the part I'll never buy in that he's a young version of Big Bang Theories Sheldon Cooper. Same is if I'm watching say Captain America. If he's just a guy running around in street clothes and never wears a costume then he's not Captain America. He's just another random generic character that is athletic and strong.
