Giving a review for The Big Bang Theory is both difficult and an easy task to complete. On one hand, the show was very enjoyable. It made me laugh and my dog Rudy cried at the finale. Sheldon's speech was very touching, although highly unrealistic. No nobel prize winner is going to stand on a stage and thank his friends for everything. Sure they might mention the people who helped and supported them along the way, but their whole speech wouldn't be about them. This seemed like a cheap way to get an emotional response from the audience.
There are many other negatives about the show. Sheldon is an awful person. God I hate that guy. I would never be friends with him, and especially not his girlfriend/wife. I have no idea what Amy saw in him. Amy totally deserves better.
Speaking of Amy, I feel that all female characters in the show are treated poorly. They are seen as objects rather than people. What would make the show better is if the main characters were the women as opposed to the men, as they seem to be more intelligent, funny, and a more well-rounded person from their male counterparts.
I've noticed that all the women on the show seem to have something that makes them "bad". Sure, characters are supposed to have flaws, but the writers seem to make the girls especially unlikable. I assume this is to make the guys more likable, which does not work on me. For example, Amy is incredibly smart, but her character is shown as being old fashioned and quirky. Penny is the local drunk, despite having the most growth of all the characters over the 12 seasons. And Bernadette, she's a doctor, yet her character has a intentionally shrill voice and is seen as nothing more than mean and bossy to her husband.
In conclusion, I enjoyed watching all 12 seasons of The Big Bang Theory, but will not miss it. I shouldn't expect much from the same guy that produced Two and a Half Men anyway, although I applaud him for making his main character (Sheldon Cooper) the polar opposite of Charlie Sheen.
