This is a vanity book purposed to make the writer seem like a profound researcher.She endeavours to empathise with the subjects, the forensic pathologists and the subjects of their work but it comes across as phony and self serving. Her writing skills and use of language are less than sound. I wonder if the people who so kindly offered her their time and insights now regret having done so.

The small coastal settlement could have been anywhere at all and there was little in this book to engage me. The characters were merely names and the storylines obscure. Not the first Harper novel to disappoint me.
