It represents the evolution from the original cybernetics of complex machines (observed systems) to the Second-Order Cybernetics, the one of the "observing systems", e.g. the human living systems. Among the book's key concepts, the distinction between "banal and non-banal machines" and the fact that "human communication belongs more to the domain of ethics and love rather than of the ones of logic, mathematics or cybernetics". Unmissable.

Eccellente. Un libro che affronta con autorevolezza e rigore un argomento delicato e controverso come quello dei rapporti fra scienza e religione. Fulminante e magistrale la definizione fornita da Haller su un tema così complesso: "La scienza ci dà la conoscenza, la religione il significato". Un libro da non perdere, anche per un ateo.

Simply, a masterpiece. A monumental classic of literature. It well explains why, without the past, we do not understand the present and we are not able to make assumptions about the future.
