To those reviewers who complained that they didnโt get answers about why the aliens invaded, I say that this was a much more realistic portrayal of such an occurrence. We wouldnโt know why. We would just have to deal with all the uncertainty and shock without having any answers.
SPOILER ALERT: To those reviewers who complained about the so-called โromanceโ between the two main characters, I have to roll my eyes at you. This was not a romance. This was humanity at its base: connection, compassion, courage. They separated at the end, not because they โbroke up,โ but because Sam was sacrificing herself to save Eric and Frodo.
To those who complained that the movie was not action packed and fast paced, I say, once again, at this is a more realistic portrayal of what real people would go through. These are not superheroes in the conventional sense. Their experience and the importance of a connection to each other and a beloved animal is what gave this movie its emotional heft. It made me cry more than once.
I feel sorry for those of you who couldnโt connect with the raw humanity in this movie and who panned it because it wasnโt like a typical Hollywood CGI fest. Thatโs just shallowness on your part.
