Critics be damned. There are those who jump to the lazy conclusion that this is a call back to the hit “”King of Comedy” and “Taxi Driver”. Seemingly reminiscent yet nowhere connected is the Joker. This is not about a “failed comedian”. This is an indictment on government fueled programs to aid those with mental health issues. This is an indictment on social justice issues. This is not a racially charged movie as some have suggested with very weak arguments. The “Saving grace” of this movie just happens to be the African-American women portrayed in this move: the love interest, the social worker and the doctor. Of the three the only one that certainly was harmed was the doctor. Otherwise the remaining victims were Caucasian males with the exception of his mother and Bruce Wayne’s mother.

Like many folks, I was happy to finally be able to attend my local movie theater. Also, like many I was reminded of the things I didn’t like about going to my local movie theater: people talking, playing with their phones, people doused in what could loosely be called perfume or cologne…yeah, come on whoever you are enough is “enuff”! I enjoy movies (at times) that don’t require thought - this is one of the exceptions - there was no joy. Of course, the car over-the-top car acrobatics were expected. Of course, the patterned and lazy dialogue interspersed with less-than sophomoric humor was expected. So, there’s that. Adding more long-lost, mysterious family members does this franchise no favors. With this particular “brother” I’ve Cena-nuff. Instead of apologizing to China for calling Taiwan a country, the entire cast and director, right down to the key-grip should apologize for foisting this upon the world.
