Despite its close association with the times of the Roaring 20's, the Great Gatsby suffers fundamental flaws which hinder the book's potential. I had to read this book for school, and hear me out, The Great Gatsby struggles with its attempts to evoke humour from the audience, and is unfortunately only spoken form first person limited perspective. Bias pervades all chapters, and therefore we as the audience must accept that we have an unreliable narrator.
This book will forever go down in my list of 'worst books I have ever read' and I dread to consider the experience that other unknowing students must suffer as they are forced to read this book as well. i like men.
