I am a feminist myself proudly so, but glorification of a woman protagonist at a cost of extremely negative portrayal of Indian air force is not acceptable, not realistic nor artistic.
All air force officers are outright tharky , cheap and vulgar except one guy. Really ? I will not buy the debate that the film has been set around 80's and 90's How many men around you were tharky in 90's? We are talking about air force officers.
I am sure many officers would have sacrificed their life for us during the same war. How did your conscience allow you to put each one of them in bad light.
The writer is too desperate to win the hearts of so called progressive thinkers. While he has successfully done so because people are applauding the film, I wonder if the real Gunjan Saxena is happy with the film. People have more problem with film because of Jahnavi Kapoor and not the script of the film which in my opinion is a greater problem.
We like feministic ideas so much that formula to make a film is not so difficult. The film template is a story of a person who has been highly discriminated against makes it big. This could have been anyone the writer chose Gunjan in this case. It film is hardly about Gunjan Saxena but the misogyny in armed forces .The film is filled with small acts of discrimination against Gunjan which are not subtle at all .The film lacks the complexity of characters and is a fairy tale in disguise. Gunjan Saxena's story would have been still inspiring without all the masala.
