It was a little slow moving in the beginning and I wasnโt sure how I felt about Christian Baleโs character. However, I was pleasantly surprised with his character arc. It felt believable. I liked the way they touched on PTSD from the perspective of people who donโt even know what PTSD is.
โThey say I haveโฆ the melancholia.โ
โNo. Thereโs no such thing.โ
There was a brotherhood among soldiers from all walks of life, their mutual respect earned by having each otherโs flanks.
Speaking soldiersโฆ honestly I grew annoyed at Blockerโs soldiers for not being able to fight worth a darn and were dropping like flies. Quickly. I loved Wes Studiโs performance. He was masterful. I was also excited to find Timothee Chalomet in this, but was given a rough reminder that this movie was from 2017 so he wasnโt a headliner yet. All the cast did great. Iโm never sure what to think about Rosamund Pike because she has been in some pretty out there stuff. She did great in this movie. Overall, I really enjoyed it and would highly recommend. It was a welcome surprise to get an ending that didnโt leave me in despair.
