Perhaps I am nit-picking but,
1) WHAT writer wouldn’t back up a book they’ve been working on for two years?!
2) Where are these fancy free writing retreats (and where can I sign up?)
3) Why does the author (played by Dern) need to fly, then drive, to a retreat in Morocco for “a quiet place to write.” Has she not heard of a local library or an Airbnb in her own town?
4) How is it that the writing retreat is located an hour away from Chefchaouen (the blue town) in the far north of Morocco yet a day trip is organized to go to “the desert?” Impossible. It would take at least 11 hours of driving one way to get to the Sahara from there. Along this same petty (and annoying, no doubt - sorry) line, why would the character fly to Marrakesh (in the middle of Morocco) then get in a car and drive 7 hours up to the retreat in the north? Why wouldn’t she have flown to Tangiers which is only a couple of hours drive away?
I think it’s wonderful to inform viewers about a country in a film but please make that information accurate.
