Really baffled by this movie. Everyone seems to agree it's the best film ever made and I just absolutely cannot understand why. Personally I felt this movie was a major step down from everything the first one did well while desperately trying to to rehit the same story beats to make you remember the actual complete film that you like, but I'm getting ahead of my self. The first problem I want to address is the real lack of character work for anyone not named Gwen; Miles, Peter, Miguel and even this second batch of spider variants (like in the first one, remember how fun that was) all get pushed away to the point where we don't even get to see them grow as people at all. The movie starts with Miles having problems at home balancing his family and Spiderman duties but this movie takes no time to build on that, guess I just have to find out next time😐 between the lack of development for 95% of the characters, as well as some terrible pacing, capped off with possibly the worst cliff hanger I've had the displeasure of being invested in, this movie feels like a 2 and a half hour trailer and a slap in the face of what was a phenomenal story. Oh yeah almost forgot to mention that part, story is almost non-existent in this movie, maybe 45 minutes worth of actual plot unfolds, the rest is just characters arguing about motivation that goes nowhere to advance the plot or really offer anything substantial to the narrative
