It was a nice attempt but honestly it all started out with the problematic casting of its leads. They were both way in over their heads and miss Palmer justified what I have always felt. She is an actress of limited range and expressions. Even the weak script which could have had a convoy of diesel 18 wheeler trucks drive right thru it was too much for her talent. As far as Common, he should have stayed as producer and had the sense to cast another actor His lines were delivered flatlined. DOA . And at no time does it bother to explain what the hell was the time vaccum was present in the woods in the first place. If they would have spread it out over say 8 episodes they perhaps would have been able to flesh out the script and the characters. Coul you imagine if ROOTS were crammed into one episode? Of course not. it took it's time to tell it's story and allowed it's audience to have affection for the characters. She went from space to time traveler to Activist in one hour.
