I really wanted The Lost City to be great. I love Sandra Bullock. She's just so great in everything. This movie had so much promise. It just fell a little flat. I like Channing Tatum, but this wasn't a good fit. The 16 yr age difference was really noticeable, at least to me. And she's such a better actor the he and it shows.
The very best part of the movie was the roughly 15 minutes Brad Pitt was in it. If the Dash/Alan character had been played by Pitt, this film would've been so much better. The chemistry Pitt had with Bullock, in the those short minutes, was noticeable. It could've compared to Michael Douglas & Kathleen Turner. Another highlight was Radcliffe was very good as the bad guy. Funny and unhinged, perfect combo.
I'm glad I went to the theater to see The Lost City. I had higher hopes that it would be a reboot of Romancing The Stone. Unfortunately that is not the case. I'd recommend it as a renter.
