Not bad but not great. Story was...meh, okay I guess, sometimes hard to follow or understand why the characters did what they did in some scenes. Some moments had my heart racing a lil bit but after a while you don't find the creature very scary just...there, as an enemy.
In fact for most of the game the creature is absent and just feels like an environmental threat, not actively hunting you, but will jump out and kill you if you're too loud.
There's a dramatic sound cue that plays whenever you make a noise louder than the environment which gets really annoying after hearing it every time you accidentally step in a puddle or creak a door. I wish there was a way to turn that off.
However, the main enemy, the game calls it the creature, looks, acts, and sounds very cool. It can hear you from a mile away but you can distract it with bricks and bottles or try to avoid it.
The main character also has asthma which makes for an interesting gameplay loop, leaving you with the need to often scavenge for inhalers, lest you have an asthma attack which will alert the creature to your location, usually leading to your demise.
