Come into this with an open mind. It is not an exact replica of the books, nor is it shot in the same way as Peter Jackson's trilogy. But so what? This is a new directors interpretation. There is no 'political correctness' as people have said, it simply uses people of color and some female characters.
...And what a wonderful Shakespearean take on Tolkien's world. The first two episodes have clearly done some world building and introduced the characters that we are going to follow in the coming episodes. The mixture of CGI and real world locations are optimized well for UHD and the acting has been given a particular style more akin to Shakespearean theater than what many are use to seeing on modern TV shows.
There's not much more that can really be said for now as we're only two episodes in.
