Dahna Clarke

I couldn't finish it, TOO LONG! She's a beautiful poetic writer; but, the impact of the story totally got disminished by all of the detail. We don't need every moment, over all the years of the character's lives, to understand who they are. I can't believe an editor didn't cut it down by a third. Also, while I do find her writing beautiful; it's unrealistic. I like that she doesn't dumb down these women, but, their language is often not coarse enough to be believable. While I appreciate their moments of poetic insight, no human communicates as artfully as her characters do, no matter what their upbringing. I think she is one of the best writers I have read, but I am equally frustrated by the points I made above.
