Harry’s break out of The Firm and finding his voice came just in time. As someone who is old enough to remember Charles & Diana’s beginnings and her tragic death, I was concerned in recent years, how the narrative was being twisted towards Diana having inherent mental illness/paranoia etc. standard fare - women have always been co side red deranged, mad, witch like for non-conforming to male/societal rules. And it was even more alarming to see William getting on board with this. She did not have inherent mental health issues, she may have ended up with mental health issues due to what was done to her: family violence on a grand scale! She experienced emotional abuse, extremely controlling behaviour and gaslighting to list but a few of the typical DV tactics she experienced at the hands of Charles, the family, the political puppeteers and media. And again, in recent years, I could see they were abusing her memory by releasing movies etc to a new generation that just changed the focus from them as perpetrators to Diana as mad woman. I felt like I was being gaslighted!!! I was there, like millions of others and saw how Diana was victimised! To the end! I was concerned that Harry and William had been fed these lies too. But Harry’s book shows he knows exactly what they did to her! And what they did to his wife! What a lioness Diana grew into! She would be SO proud of Harry and Meg not letting her truth be twisted into convenient truths by the palace PR for a new generation and for exposing them for how they treated his own wife. At the heart of this is violence against women which has been enshrined by the royal family throughout the centuries. Thank you for taking a stand Harry! And thank you for forcefully reclaiming the truth of what Diana suffered and fought against and for carrying on her fight. Lilibet (& Archi) will thank you for taking a stand against violence against women and contributing to a world where slowly, the institutions that uphold this are dismantled.
