I truly don't understand those who dislike this movie because it doesn't reflect 100% what actually happened during this psycho's reign of terror. It's a movie, not a documentary. There are plenty of podcasts, documentaries, etc that cover what actually happened in great detail. Strictly my opinion, but I thought the point of the movie being centered around his stint on The Dating Game was that he was actively raping, murdering and torturing women while literally being in plan sight of everyone. And it showed that he could be charming and chilling at the same time. Overall, I thought it was a good movie . . . even if the real Rodney had short hair (someone is upset over this, are you kidding me????).

I don't think i'm spoilng anything by stating that this is based on a true story. I don't know how much of this actually happened but I have seen documentaries (good one on Netflix) and listened to a couple podcasts about Billy Milligan, which is the actual name of the person who inspired the character Tom Holland plays. Keep in mind this took place in the 70's, when the term 'serial killer' had just recently been recognized and actual serial killers were just beginning to be studied to try to find out what drives their behaviors. In episode six there is a brief reference to the fact that anorexia and bulimia aren't even recognized as different eating disorders. For those dismissing the show simply because the 'big twist' was too obvious, since it's based on true events and people I don't think figuring anything out is the big reveal anyone thinks it is. That being said, I agree with most here that the acting is fantastic and it is definitely a slow burn. And I highly recommend looking into the actual case so that you can see how huge this was at the time and the lasting impact it has had on various aspects of our legal system and how we deal with mental illness today.
