Most rock/prog documentaries steer the viewer through the hallowed halls of hedonism, via selected performance extracts and tales of excess.
This documentary is uniquely different. Mr Aimes highlights the tensions that have existed between the band's personnel, more or less since conception. At the same time it reinforces the professionalism, musical ability and dedication shown by all to concerned.
Many of the comments and even the gestures Toby A has captured reflect the undercurrent of resentment from some of the band and on occasion, veer into the realm of real sadness and regret from some surprising people.
The movie then shifts pace again to highlight the fact that one popular band member was touring and performing despite having a terminal cancer diagnosis. The one to one set pieces with that particular individual were both candid and probing yet edited with empathy.
Overall a unique documentary that transcends the genre.
