This movie is very charming - as the first time Johnny Depp and Marlon Brando ever worked together, and one of Johnny's earliest successes, it paints a dreamy depiction of an incurable romantic making his case for love in the real world.
It hasn't entirely aged well in the same sense that Disney's Snow White has not - the film texture, music, are all from an older time.
It might even be a bit cheesy for some, but if that is you, if you can overlook those moments, you'll get to see some of Johnny's best gems of his early performances.
That said, the sentiment of love vs practicality in all its quirks remains the film's central focus, and an undying, ever relevant theme.
