There are moments when the game comes to a screeching halt and forces you to play some drawn out almost cut-scene moments. These tend to drag on and on and really slow down the game. Not a fan of how much Miles is involved in this game, or how much you're forced to play as him. Peter Parker was and always will be Spider-Man; the original, undoubtedly. This game doesn't feel as much of a Peter story as it does Miles as well. That's why Miles had his own game-this game should have been Peter focused. There are times the story takes a turn and you're forced as Miles to play against other characters and it's just...I mean come on. Is Insomniac trying to plan a future on Miles related content? Because that's how this feels. Not to mention Miles shows up with a new costume at very odd and random time.
The story is ok. The play is pretty cool. Gliding seems like a gimmick, a way to move around the map quicker than swinging. Again, come on. Spider-Man swings. He doesn't fly around New York like frickin Superman. I went into this game knowing you'd have to be Miles at certain points, but it genuinely feels like this could be more of a Miles game with how much they focus on him and his immediate relationships. And what's up with Kraven? He isn't even hunting any of these villains. He's having his "hunters" track then down and catch them and then once they're contained Kraven just comes in to basically finish them off.
Overall the game is fun. But I've been replaying the original game off and on for 5 years. And I'd almost rather continue playing that game where I can be Peter, and where the game has less of these "bonding" playing cut-scene moments. I'm not tagging on Miles, but Peter and Miles have their own games. This should have been way more Peter focused. Seriously.
