I am ashamed to say I watched every episode yesterday. BINGE BINGE BINGE. I gave it Five stars only because it touched my heart and gave me a great deal of perspective. However, I think it would have been better without theF—word, which is extremely offensive. May writers some day find a more palatable substitute. People say they use it because it satisfies their anger. Most of those using it in”Maid” merely used it as an adjective.
But, all in all, I think most people can relate to Alex’s struggles, as well as the backstories of Paula, Regina,Denise,Sean et al. Parents bring all their baggage into their relationships with their children and this was a story of a young woman working through unbelievable hardship to make sure she broke the chain with her little girl.
I don’t think I’ve ever binged any other show to the extent of watching it all in one sitting, but this was masterfully cast and deserves a lot of recognition. I lived in the Northwest (USA) and travelled to Vancouver. I’m sure it’s easier to film in Canada( Hallmark certainly does) but I was really hoping to see some familiar landscape. So it was a tiny bit disappointing to find out it was all filmed in Canada, but it didn’t detract from my really loving the story.
I hope there will be a sequel since it almost demands one.
