Superbly produced by Ronald D. Moore, Maril Davis, Matt Roberts and Toni Graphia, and featuring excellent writing and gripping acting across the board by a large cast, the series almost immediately snaps the viewer up for a long and fascinating ride through a visually stunning Scotland into Scottish history leading up to and including the eighteenth century Battle of Culloden, as well as the American Revolution with major battles portrayed with historical accuracy. Outlander uses a light touch of fantasy as a device to explore exciting period action, rich characterizations within its historical drama, and a deep and enduring love story for the ages over a lifetime as portrayed by Sam Heughan and Caitríona Balfe, highlighted by their superb acting and the burning chemistry between them. The series is totally engrossing and stays with you. Eight seasons aren’t enough.
