I highly recommend watching the year between, if you, or anyone you know is dealing with bipolar disorder. As a 20-year-old girl newly diagnosed with bipolar, I found this movie to be really relatable, yet encouraging at the end.
The movie explored difficult themes, such as the battle to find the right medications, relationship breakdowns, family dynamics, substance abuse, difficulties holding a job, struggles with education, poor decision-making and family battles with cancer. I have to say this is the best movie I have seen that has covered the topic of bipolar disorder, among other things. And I think the main character, Clements, was hilarious, from a mentally ill perspective. Alex heller gave a very raw performance, in her own unique way. I definitely cried. A few times, actually.
